Biographical note
Suhair Al Khatib is the Deputy Administrator of the Maryland Transit Administration overseeing Engineering, Planning, Programming, IT, Locally Operated Services and Commuter Bus Operations. Mr. Al Khatib has thirty-five years of experience in public transit, government, consulting, contracting and property development, overseeing commuter rail, subway, light rail, Maglev and bus projects.
Mr. Al Khatib’s planning and engineering staff have been implementing MTA’s BaltimoreLink transit plan, a transformative and organic restructuring of the MTA’s bus network involving preparation of environmental documentation for the Baltimore Washington Superconducting Maglev project, procurement of new subway vehicles, and overhaul of light rail vehicles.
Mr. Al Khatib developed new accountability measures for state government that improved results and resulted in over $100 million in projects cost in 2015. He also oversaw construction of numerous capital projects bringing them in on time and under budget.
Mr. Al Khatib received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from University of Baghdad and his M.Sc. in construction Management from Loughborough University, UK.
